R Bona, Sally Nyollo, Gino Sitson, Coco Mbassi. There is a log to work to be done. The new generation is choosing the easiest path. If you can play 3 cords, you can make a makossa CD, but everything just sounds the same. No wonder we are listening to coupe decale an Ndombolo. By in large, Makossa and bikutsi and all the other rythms are, in my humble view, raw material.
YOu guys are right. We need real music schools where people can go learn the theory and develop our rythms. There is a huge potential in all of our rythms, but there is nobody with neither the talent nor the know how to take the raw material and make it into pure gold. The entire makossa repertoire is played with major cords in the key of C or G. There are thousand of cords that can be used, but only a few musicians are measuring up to the challenge.

grazzellian i agree with u. u can hear Dina Bell in this. Musicians today just play for the money, not 2 entertain. The old guys like Dina Bell, Ben Decca, Emile Kangue, Nkotti Francois, Kacky Doumbe, late Bebey Black and the rest play good music for lifetime entertainment. most of these guys use Grace Decca, Sissy Dopoko and Charlotte Mbango as backup singers look what they did later. We need to go back to grassroots makossa with no ndombolo, senge, and soukous.
There was a time when Cameroon was a wonderful country, where artists were talented, and original. They showcased the best of our culture, like these twin brothers Epee & Koum. When dancers were real ladies. Not the tail-wagging half-naked tarts paraded by hideous no-talent copy-cats artist and their monotonous din. This is one of my all-time favorites.
même le temps ne va pas altérer cette musique
